Urban Retreat
Conceived by artist Sophie Mellor, Urban Retreat is a series of artists commissions, activities and events reflecting on the use and value of urban/rural landscapes. It takes Henry David Thoreau's Walden as a starting point, using socialised seclusion and public interaction to investigate the local economic and ecological landscape of Barrow-in-Furness.

Uncivilisation
UNCIVILISATION 2010 brings together writers and thinkers, musicians, artists and storytellers who have woken up to the likelihood that we will outlive our way of living. The world of supermarkets and superhighways is not going to become "sustainable" - as the systems we grew up taking for granted start to break down, how do we go on making sense of our lives? We're bringing some of the best known figures addressing these issues together with exciting, radical voices you might not have heard before, to explore two core questions:What do we do after we stop pretending "the world as we know it" can be sustained?, Where do we find new stories for the unknown world ahead…?

Camden Arts Centre The Big Rip Off! - Fundraising event
Saturday 17 April, 2.00-5.00pm
i will be repurposing techniques learnt from hanging arouund the streets with 'peripheral' people internationally - come and learn trespassing, reverse pick pocketing and breaking in through open windows.
Family workshops, artists’ stalls and activities raising money to support our future programme.2010 marks the 20th anniversary of Camden Arts Centre’s internationally acclaimed residency programme: a pivotal moment in the career of artists including Martin Creed, Eva Rothschild and Simon Starling.
The Big Rip Off! is a day of fundraising activities which gives artists license to plunder the history of financial misdemeanours. Activities include forgery workshops, cat burglary lessons for children, bootleg designer t-shirts and a gallery of faked art works. Money raised will provide vital funding for future residencies and allow Camden Arts Centre to continue to support artists and their work.
